The Cedar partnered with the Somali Community Barwaaqo Organization in Mankato, Minnesota to celebrate their one-year anniversary with a celebration called Hidden Jewels: Rediscovering the Beauty of Somali Culture. For the event, Dalmar Yare and the North America Super Stars performed with a full live band. The following day, Dalmar Yare and the North America Super Stars led a workshop in Mankato’s Highland Park for a group of ecstatic youth, who learned to dance the traditional Somali “Dhaanto” and sing the Somali national anthem and other popular Somali songs.

Somali “Dhaanto” Workshop
Midnimo artists conducted an engaging workshop for young people from ages 5 all the way to 18 in Highland Park in Mankato. Youth learned the traditional Somali dhaanto and got to dance to live Somali music for the first time in their lives.
